TRIBUNE: Carandang quits; GMA aide eyed as replacement - Pres Aquino is appears to have accepted Sec. Ramon Carandang's resignation from his post as chief Presidential Communications Development Strategic Planning Office. A top Malacañang official confirmed to the Tribune that Carandang wants to leave government service and return to private life. The Malacañang official said President Aquino is considering Silvestre Afable Jr. as Carandang's replacement. Afable, a Biology graduate from the University of the Philippines-Baguio, served as press secretary of former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.
