Statement of CJ Corona: The events of the last six months taught me and my family to put all our trust in God's providence. He has been the healing touch, the calming presence and assuring protection in our most difficult moments; and by His Amazing Grace, we remain standing like trees firmly planted in the ground. My wife Tina and I together with our children and grandchildren, are all witnesses to God's immense love, as reflected in the kindness and good deeds- big and small - extended to us by countless people.
BONG AUSTERO Corona was impeached mainly for moral reasons he was supposedly strongly identified with the previous administration. So I cannot fathom why the names being floated by Malacanang are those that are strongly identified as high priestesses of this administration. The names of Justice Secretary Leila de Lima and Bureau of Internal Revenue Commissioner Kim Henares have been tossed around. So now it is wrong for a chief justice to be identified with the previous administration but okay if the next is identified with the Aquino administration? Oh I forgot, this administration and everyone identified with it are made of sterner moral stuff! All of them are shining examples of morality!
STANDARD: ELIZABETH ANGSIOCO "WAVERING ON THE WAIVER" How can the Palace miss the context? The context is the people's clamor. The context is the President's promise. The Corona case happened because of that context - as what has been repeatedly said during the rial by no less that Pnoy. The context is our quest for transparent and accountable governance. The "tuwid na daan" And the standards should be the same for everyone, ESPECIALLy the President who should lead as the country traverses the path of righteousness.
KIT TATAD: With the conscript media and the usual external poers behind him, Pnoy could rule as he likes without listening to anyone or anything that does not agree with him. Senator Joker Arroyo was onkly half-right when he said, "This is not justice, political or legal. This is certainly not law. For sure, it is only naked power, as it was in 1972... i have not thought that I would see it again so brazenly performed."
JING PARAS: This is what Sen. Miriam called her collegues and the cong-prosecutors. She further said, masyadong nagmamalinis kayo trying to convict the CJ, at bakit...kayo malinis din ba? True enough, a texter in my daily radio program asked, will this senator sleep well after he voted guilty knowing that he has alos not declared his $ in this SALN? Remember his wife being caught by the US gov't for $ smuggling by not declaring a substantial sum of dollars when she stepped into the US? I'm pretty sure those $ where not declared in the senator's SALN and yet he was amused when he delieved his vote. Miriam was right after all. They are ACTORS.
Malacanang plus 188 congressmen plus 20 sen judges equals kangaroo court.
- there was never a trial. just a moro moro to justify booting out a chief justice who chose to stand his ground in fight for SC's independence. nothing more, nothing less.
ABS CBN: Pnoy's $250 handshake raises eyebrows in DC Some Fil-Ams privately told ABS CBN News that there could have been a better use for their $250, such as donating the sum to any of the charity projects DC based Fil-Ams mount every year for the poor back home.
KIT TATAD: Some will praise the Senate for having been able to start and finish an impeachment trial. Given the aborted Estrada trial of 2000-2001, this may appear to be an achievement. But not really. The Senate has shown it could convict an illegally impeached official by proclaming itself above the Supreme Court, acting on a constitutionally unverfiied complaint, and using illegally procured evidenceto prove a cime that is either not included in the Articles of Impeachment or not impeachable at all.
GMA NEWS: In the past days, religious leaders had joined calls for Aquino to sign a waiver that would open his bank accounts to scrutiny, in the name of transpaency. El Shaddai leader Mariano "Mike" Velarde joined such calls, saying there is nothing to be afraid of if there is nothing to hide. "And besides, the purpose of the statement of assets, liabilites and net worth really is for the public to know what they have," Velarde said, according to an acticle posted on the Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines new site.
INQUIRER: Corona to join lecture circuit, says lawyer June 2, 2012 6:02 PM
Students in the country's top universities may expect a nwe lecturer on campus: the recently removed chief justice of the Supreme Court, Renato Corona, one of his lawyer said Saturday.
the truth and nothing but the truth - The argument of Sen Osmena the Pnoy could easily hide his assets by depositing them in his sister's accounts precisely why they should have given CJ the benifit of the doubt re his (CJ's) account. CJ put all accounts in his name coz he's NOT hiding anything. CJ was CONVICTED for TELLING the TRUTH!
FWD - The argument of Sen Osmena that Pnoy could easily hide his assets by depositing them in his sister's accounts precisely why they should have given CJ the benefit ofthe doubt re his (CJ's) account. CJ put all accounts in his name coz he is not hiding anything. His conviction was too harsh for having told the truth. Pls pass
So correct. >> I thought kim henares was a stupid idea. Cj de lima would just ba a harebrained idea. How could noy do that??? His main issue against corona was he worked for gma as chief of staff the cabsec. Now noy will make his own cabsec, the same person who disobeyed the sc, its chief!!!??? Harebrained.
FWD - Signing a Waiver on dollar and peso bank accounts is different from what you sign in your SALN. Amazing mental dishonesty of Pres B S Aquino III. P'NOY's refusal to sign a waiver simply shows he is HIDING some things and does not want the Filipino people to know about them. P-NOY is INSULTING our fulfilled his campaign promise when he signed his SALN. Don't all govt employees sign that authority in their SALN? Sobra naman. Pls pass
De Lima testified against cj corona. She should have the delicadeza not to be interested in CJ position. WALANG HIYA TALAGA mga Bata ni Pnoy.
kapal! - Ang kapal nitong Leila de Lima, she says she will accept the position of CJ if offered to her by Pnoy, she is not qualified, ang tass ng ambition niya, grrrrr
