Confirming SWS surveys, of high levels of hungry people in the country, the Washington based International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) reported that the Global Hunger Index (GHI) in the Philippines INCREASED from 11.5% in 2011 to 12.2% in 2012. The IFPRI report came on the heels of a United Nations study that 6 million Filipino children are malnourished. A related statistic is the fact that the 2.9 million Filipinos are unemployed and 8.5 million are underemployed.

Former Sen Victor Ziga, a member of the LP national exec committee, brought his son Ricky to VP Jejomar and former Pres Joseph Estrada's UNA for endorsement. "I am protesting the LP's distorted principle of junking the LP originals and tapping last-minute turncoats as official candidates nationwide," Ziga told the Manila Standard.

INQUIRER: BIR MISSES 9-MONTH TARGET BY 3.5%
According to BIR data released on Monday, September collection was 4 percent, or P2.9 billion, LOWER than the P73.9-billion goal for the month. Tax inflow last month brought revenues for the nine months to September to P772.5 billion, missing the target of P800.3B by 3.5 percent, or P29.8B.
