MANILA TIMES: Bobby Ongpin a proxy in Pnoy's vilification of Mrs. Arroyo - Roberto Ongpin has become a proxy in Aquino's Matuwid na Daan campaign against Pres Gloria Arroyo who Aquino has portrayed as vile and corrupt. If Aquino is able to destroy Ongpin, he will be able to destroy Arroyo's image as president. Corrupt or not, Arroyo is the president who DOUBLED the Filipino's per capita income to $3,157 during her 9-year presidency and made the Phils join the ranks of MIDDLE CLASS nations.

No president in history has ever double the Filipino's per capita income. Mrs. Arroyo built up the country's infrastructure and installed reforms that contributed to the competitiveness of the economy today. [Opinion/Tony Lopez/pA5, Manila Times]

MANILA BULLETIN: Liquor cigarette prices not controllable
- Officials of the BIR admitted yesterday that the agency cannot control the retail prices of cigarettes and liquor after it started collecting higher excise taxes on these products last week. They said the Bureau has no authority to regulate prices of these so called sin products or other commodities for that matter as its rule is confined solely in implementing tax laws passed by Congress . BUSINESS MIRROR: - Think tank say PHL still BEHIND East Asian neighbors. The Philippines should continue adopting an inclusive-growth economic policy to increase its productivity and catch up with Asian neighbors that enjoy higher and sustained economic growth. According to a study conducted by the Philippine Institute for Development Studies  (PIDS), productivity growth was behind the "spectacular" economic performance of East Asian economies, namely, Japan, Taiwan, South Korea and China [Ng/pA8, Mirror]

TRIBUNE: Reforms not hype needed to sustain growth - WB
In the "Philippine Economic Update: Accelerating Reforms to Sustain Growth" the WB Poverty Reduction and Economic Management Unit for East Asia and Pacific Region said "the economy needs to shift from consumption towards investment, both public and private. Sectorally, this translates to less dependence on low-wage and low-skill services and more on labor-intensive manufacturing and high value services, underpinned by rising productivity in agriculture."
INQUIRER: Lawyer tells Aquino: Don't name pal chief counsel Lawyer Ernesto Francisco Jr. said the President should refrain from appointing a practicing lawyer like Caguioa as his chief legal counsel to avoid a conflict of interest. He said Caguioa and his law firm , Caguioa and Gatmaytan, had served as the legal counsel of three mining companies that hat appealed the revocation by  the Office of the President of agreements to explore, develop and use minerals in the Court of Appeals and Supreme Court.
STANDARD: GARY OLIVAR - THE GREAT DIVIDER
- It's a great irony that the only modern Philippine president who qualifies as a UNITER - despite all her shortcomings - was the first President Aquino. As soon as her predecessor was deposed and she took his place, she immediately set about to reassure people that she was everyone's president, not just this or that faction. Her very first SONA, so soon after the Edsa uprising, mentioned her predecessor's name only three times. How sad indeed that her SON has decided to carve out his own identity by becoming - on this particular issue - everything that SHE was NOT.
STANDARD: COA APPROVED INTEL FUNDS - ARROYO
FORMER Pres and now Pamp Rep. Gloria M-Arroyo on Mon said the 366 million in confidential funds of the PCSO the subject of the plunder case against her and other PCSO officers - have been duly audited and approved by the COA. The former pres, through lawyer Anacleto Diaz, said the Ombudsman cannot overturn a finding of the COA. She raised this pointed in a 10-page reiterative motion to the SC for the issuance of temporary restraining order and or preliminary injunction.
WHAT WE NEED IS "P-NOY CONTROL" not GUN CONTROL - who controls a smokin' gun president (smokes and love guns)? his governance can likened to a bully madman that shoots without mercy perceived enemies in sight (much like war games on PSP) with automatic weapons (like senate, congress and supreme court).  he can be likened to that cavite mass murderer with his assistant "KKK" reloading ammos for continuous firing. "reign of terror" and "reign of errors"?
24 Oras: PNOY says target shooting is one way for him to relax. Palace admits the President joined a target shooting competition in the midst of crimes involving guns.

ISSUE: CGMA PLUNDER CASE (1:06-1:07) - DZMM) by J. Hidalgo
