POLBITS; BEL CUNANAN http://www.polbits.com/2013/01/queries-and-more-queries-that-president.html

Queries P-Noy should answer at Davos Forum this week and at parliamentarians' anti-corruption meet here next week, where he's expected to raise GMA and CJ Corona as Exhibits A and B. P-Noy admin's checkered record on KKK friends, however, belies this campaign. But no issue more serious than collusion between Comelec and Smartmatic, as it undermines people's faith in our electoral system.
STANDARD: EMIL JURADO - AN OPTICAL ILLUSION
After three years in office, Pres Benigno Aquino III CONTINUES TO DIVIDE the nation by using his symbol of victory - the yellow ribbon, actually a poor copy of the pink HIV-AIDS ribbon. What is he trying to prove? If you don't display that yellow shirt, you may be accused of not belonging to the yellow horde. The President must realize that HE IS THE LEADER OF P94 million Filipinos, whether or not they voted for him.
STANDARD: AQUINO'S TRIP TO DAVOS TO COST TAXPAYERS P49M
ES Paquito Ochoa Jr. said the government will spend P49 million for Aquino's THREE-DAY TRIP to Switzerland. Aquino's 63-MEMBER delegation includes DFA Sec Albert Del Rosario, Finance Sec Cesar Purisima, Trade Sec Gregory Domingo, Budget Sec Florencio Abad, Socio-Economic Planning Sec Arsenio Balisacan and Cabinet Sec Rene Almendras.

STANDARD: GOVT SCORED FOR RISING CRIMINALITY
"Criminality will not stop because there is an election," House Dep Min Leader and Zamb Rep. Mitos Magsaysay told reporters. "We are having problems because of poor law enforcement. Law enforcers themselves are breaking the law," Magsaysay said. "This administration has been here for three years, so they can't blame others for what is happening now."
STANDARD: House Min Leader and Quezon Rep. Danilo Suarez said he was saddened by the rising criminality in the country, citing a Canadian national's shooting and killing of two people and wounding of a female prosecutor in a Cebu courtroom in Cebu on Tuesday before he himself was shot dead. "Read the papers and THREE-FOURTHS OF WHAT YOU READ ARE ABOUT KILLINGS," Suarez said. "The government should do something about it."
STANDARD: FLORENCIO FIANZA
- For reasons only known to her, Sec of Justice Leila de Lima with a PLATOON of media people in tow, went to the scene of the incident and supposedly conducted a reenactment of what happened. After questioning witnesses and asking them to demonstrate what they saw, she  right there and then pronounced to one and all, that THERE WAS NO SHOOTOUT. Case closed. Wow! What was Madame De Lima thinking? Doesn't she realize that the case is STILL UNDER investigation by  the NBI, an agency under her department.
whats happening now at the senate is the result of pnoy's 3 years of destabilizing governance: meddling in the judiciary and the legislative branches. not to mention a divisive peace process, a morally controversial railroaded rh law and anti business/employment sin tax law. daang matuwid is all about POWER and GREED.
STANDARD: EMIL JURADO
- The ranting of some senators over the alleged unconscionable and immoral "gifts" of Sen Pres Juan Ponce Enrile simply shows the SHEER HYPOCRISY pervading Congress. Those complaining never all the years they have been in Congress. Why not? To think that no less than COA Chairperson Grace Pulido-Tan has already ruled that Enrile's actions were all within the ambit of the GAA. These bellyaching senators also never complained about their P200 million annual pork barrel.
TRIBUNE: CHARLIE MANALO - COVER-UP
- Despite its all-out quest to pin down Mrs. Arroyo in graft-related cases, corruption has worsened under this administration but to which those in power had simply turned a blind eye. There is the still unliquidated P110-BILLION fund as bared by the COA which involves the BOC and the DSWD, the missing container vans, the investigation which had been suspended for good by Congress and a lot more. And yet, clearly, the cases against the former president by the Aquino administration have NO LEGAL OR FACTUAL BASIS. The Aquino administration has been in a relentless effort to file cases against Mrs. Arroyo and her perceived allies which are meant merely as a cover-up for the lack of solid achievements in his almost 3 years in office.
INQUIRER: AQUINO HITS AND MISFIRES IN THE BARILAN DEBATE
PNOY: E kung president na nga, kelangan pa ng baril, paano pa kaya ako.' Aquino was also quoted as saying, "I'm not the kind who flatters people. Let's find a way to solve the issue and not try to be cute." But is it really about being cute?
INQUIRER: AQUINO HITS AND MISFIRES IN THE BARILAN DEBATE
PNOY: "The law recognizes my right to self-defense," he continued. "Self-defense is a skill and it's a skill that has to be practiced to have any value." That was an unfortunate statement. For it framed the problem in a dangerous way. For Aquino essentially said that even the president of the country, who presumably enjoys the best security in the Philippines, is so worried about his own safety that he feels the need to carry a gun. You can hear an ordinary Filipino reacting, 'If the president needs a gun for protection, then I should get one too.
INQUIRER: House minority bloc wants Biazon fired as BOC chief
- The House minority bloc wants the government to get rid of Customs chief Rufino Biazon for his agency's alleged inability to reach its target collection. In a press conference on Wed, House min leader Danilo Suarez lambasted the Bureau of Customs' "poor collection effort" and urged the government to take note of the Attrition Law in dealing with Biazon and the agency's other officials.
INQUIRER: Ombudsman given 10 days to produce resolution on Arroyo plunder case - The office of the Ombudsman has 10 days to produce its first resolution on the investigation conducted on former Pres Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo's plunder case. The Arroyo camp on Wednesday said that the Sandiganbayan First Division released an order for the Office of the Ombudsman to produce within 10 days a resolution on the preliminary investigation on the Pampanga lawmaker and nine co-accused's alleged misuse of P366 million worth of Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office intelligence funds.

- DZBB) by M. Enriquez and A. Clavio Interview with Zambales Representative Milagros "Mitos" Magsaysay
