PHILSTAR: Ombudsman files 2 graft cases vs NBN deal whistle-blower
- The Office of the Ombudsman has filed two graft cases against national broadband network (NBN) deal anomaly whistle-blower Rodolfo Noel Lozada Jr. before the Sandiganbayan. The complaint filed on Tuesday by the PCGG said Lozada granted leasehold rights over public lands to his brother Jose Orlando and to a private company that has connections to him and his wife. Lozada was separately indicted for a second graft charge for also granting leasehold rights of another public land to Transforma Quinta Inc., a private entity that he and his wife were representing.

As for his Ombudsman, even without waiting for Gloria and her counsels to reply to the charge, she quickly elevated this case to the Sandiganbayan. She, a former SC associate justice, was even preached to on basic rights by the Sandiganbayan.

But when the Pasay City judge granted Gloria bail, on account of the witness' questionable credibility and no hard evidence presented by the Comelec, and Gloria was out of detention, there went Noynoy again, ordering his Ombudsman to quickly charge her with plunder, again a non-bailable offense. That Noynoy had ordered his Ombudsman, who claims to be independent, but is hardly that, can be gleaned from the fact that, immediately after Gloria was granted bail, he told reporters that there was another plunder case already filed against the former President, which, of course, would cut short her temporary freedom.
TRIBUNE: Worse, reports have already said that her panel of investigators had stated that there was no case for plunder against Gloria, and that at most, the charge could be technical malversation. What  did the Ombudsman do, if not get her trusted aides to reverse the findings, for the sole reason that Noynoy and she wanted Gloria detained on plunder. And that is what they call the Noynoy reforms in the justice system - fueled by vindictiveness.

TRIBUNE: From the way she looks today, Gloria does not appear to be faking her ailment, and Noynoy's insistence on having her detained forever, if possible, is merely strengthening his image of a vindictive president and worse, even placing her health in danger.

As there was still no charges leveled against her, they even rushed what they called an election sabotage case against her, which is a non-bailable offense, to ensure that she is detained. And never mind if  the case was weak and bereft of any hard evidence of her having cheated in the 2007 senatorial polls and solely on the basis of a so-called witness, a former administrative officer and close adviser of then Maguindanao Gov. Andal Ampatuan Jr., who does not even a shred of credibility as a witness.

Whether Noynoy and his alter-egos admit it or not, the fact is that Leila de Lima, under orders from Noynoy, defied the Supreme Court's restraining order and barred Gloria and her party from leaving the country, not because she sought asylum, which was proved to be wrong, but because Noynoy wanted Gloria jailed.

He and his Justice secretary, along with his chairman of the COMELEC plus his ombudsman, should by now have realized that Gloria was truly was a very sick woman when she asked to leave the country to seek medical attention last year.

Noynoy really shouldn't play around with the health of the former pres. Gloria Arroyo. But he does anyway, because he can't rest until his vindictiveness toward her and her administration, which he uses as his punching bag, and his easy target for his blame game. What he doesn't seem to realize is that if Gloria suddenly kicks the bucket anytime, and that is a distinct probability as her doctors have already stated, blood will be on the hands of Noynoy, and worse, he would been seen by all as having directly caused her death.
INQUIRER: ROBERTO TIGLAO - If he had not cancelled that milestone undertaking, it would have been completed last month, and would have significantly mitigated the disastrous flooding of recent weeks. The cancellation of  this crucial flood-control project will go down in Philippine history as the country's most tragic, most shameful episode in which billions of pesos in taxpayers' money were wasted, hundreds of lives were taken, and hundreds of thousands flooded Filipinos put in misery because of the irresponsible ill-will of a President towards his predecessor.
INQUIRER: ROBERTO TIGLAO - Pres Benigno Aquino III axed in Nov 2010 one of the country's most ambitious flood-control projects that was scheduled to start year.
