ABS-CBN: Way Kurat: The damage has been done "Yung mga 1 million na tao na nadinig ang issue, 'yun din ba ang mga taong makikinig sa sorry? Na-realize ko, it's futile. Wala na eh, nasira na... Ngayon kahit saan ako pumunta, ang mga tao nakatingin sa akin," he told dzMM on Thursday. He added that he spoke to COA chair Maria Gracia Pulido-Tan and asked her to double check the records, but Tan defended the audit findings. "Sabi ko, sigurado ba kayo na sa akin 'yan sabi ko take a last glance, baka ma-realize niyo na mali. Sabi niya sa akin, hindi kami pwede magkamali," said Zamora.

ANC: MIRIAM - The senator said that Lacson's son lost to the son of Sen. Ramon Bong Revilla in the last elections, therefore Lacson cannot be expected to be independent and objective against Revilla.
ANC: MIRIAM - "A policeman cannot be adviser to a Senate committee probing the pork barrel, because this is a question of law. He has no clue on how the law proceeds in these cases. After a cop finishes his investigation, the report is submitted to the prosecutor, not the other way around," she said.
ANC: Miriam on Senate pork probe - Santiago particularly scoffed at the idea that a former senator, whom she called "Pinky Lacson," should act as adviser or consultant to the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee during its hearings, "because he is a former fugitive from justice who remains unpunished and serves as the poster boy for people like Napoles who has disappeared to evade a warrant of arrest, just like he did."
ANC: Miriam on Senate pork probe - Sen. Miriam Defensor Santiago said that if the Senate proceeds with its public hearing on the COA report concerning billions of pesos in PDAF funds allocated by certain lawmakers to suspicious NGOs, "the result could be a freewheeling talkfest, if if not a total three-ring circus as senators vie for TV exposure."
ANC: A taxpayer urged the Mandaluyong City RTC on Thursday to stop the DOTC from proceeding with its Aug. 28 bidding for the multi-billion peso rehabilitation of the Mactan-Cebu International Airport -- the first airport project to be bid out under public-private partnership during the term of Pres. Benigno Aquino III. In his petition for injunction Danilo B. Cruz, a resident of Hagonoy, Bulacan, sought the immediate issuance of a TRO and/or writ of preliminary injunction against the DOTC's Bids and Awards Committee which has set the bidding for the P17.5-billion MCIA Passenger Terminal Building Project. Cruz said he file the taxpayer's suit due to "some serious and glaring violations of the law" committed by the DOTC.
ANC: PNOY IN CAVITE
President Aquino visited flood victims in Cavite Thursday. But noticeably, he was not joined by the incumbent governor, Johnvic Remulla nor by Vice Governor Jolo Revilla. Aquino was instead welcomed by partymate former Governor Ayong Maliksi who lost to Remulla in the last elelctions.

TRIBUNE: 'Invisible' President issues list of excuses

The guessing game on what kept President Aquino busy during the critical period from Sunday to last Tuesday when practically the whole Metro Manila was under water, enough for him to disappear from public view went unresolved yesterday even as he claimed he was coordinating with government officials during the entire period of the calamity situation.

dbm and coa should apologize to way kurat. dismissing it as a "clerical error" is not sufficient to repair the damage done to his name. it also raised the possibilities of "other errors" and suspicious that the selective report was only released for political agenda.

INQUIRER: Philippines urged to focus on manufacturing

The manufacturing sector remains critical for Asian countries like the Philippines to prosper and avoid the middle income trap, according to a report of the Asian Development Bank. The ADB said the Philippines' shallow industrial base was nearly decimated by the ensuing internal and external crises. The Philippines remained constrained by narrow export specialization, import dependence, and a shallow knowledge base. The reasons include macroeconomic policies, flawed incentive structures and lack of nationalism among the "captains" of industries.
MLA STANDARD: Aquino flak for absence at height of floods

Pres Benigno Aquino III FINALLY showed up in Laguna on Tuesday to address the plight of those devastated by typhoon Maring, blaming two "big companies" for contributing to the flooding in Metro Manila and nearby provinces, but not after getting flak from several people who slammed via networking sites for his NON-APPEARANCE since last Monday.

Where was our President last Monday and Tuesday with the country needed him most? We need our leader during the worst of times, not after. If the President was under the weather, we could understand. But, if he was simply noynoying, or like his cacique ancestors just did not want to get his feet wet, that's another thing.

TRIBUNE: NINEZ CACHO OLIVARES - COVER UP

Any which way it is cut, the Commission on Audit (CoA) special audit report is very selective, and intended all along for the public to damn the non-allies of Noynoy and protect not only his congressional allies but Noynoy himself. The fact that the audit was limited to 2007-2009 was pretty suspicious in itself, considering that these were the Gloria Arroyo years and in during a period where Noynoy and his Liberal Party mates had cut their political ties with her. There was absolutely nothing done by the CoA during the Aquino years, despite the Noynoy administration being in power and position for three years already.
