MLA STANDARD: JOJO ROBLES - MEDIA DEODORANTS

Last week, various media reported that the Sandiganbayan anti-graft court's Third Division issued warrants of arrest last July 29 against 13 former officials of the state-owned Development Bank of the Philippines. But nearly all of the reports failed to mention one small thing: the most of the defendants had already posted bail on the charges of graft as early as last year, with one respondent, columnist and political scientist Alexander Magno, doing the same only two weeks ago.
TRIBUNE: Noy to leave sorry legacy when he steps down in 2016 - Romualdez

"Media are giving an inordinate amount of focus here but a larger amount of funds is being unexamined, unaudited. In the total budget, the PDAF is only one percent. But what about the other component of the budget of which the Executive has the sole control? There is the special purpose fund, the unprogrammed fund and other lump sump allocations which are left unexamined, and unreviewed," said Romualdez. "Just where exactly does the money for these items go?," he asked. "Even Professor Leonor Briones who briefed us in our meeting earlier claimed she still finds items in the debt servicing provision in the budget she cannot understand."
TRIBUNE: Atienza questions pork barrel allocation for QC councilors
- While the whole country is keenly monitoring the development on the investigation into the Priority Development Assistance Fund of the lawmakers allegedly channeled to non-existent  non-governmental organizations, reports of distribution of pork barrel fund to Quezon City councilors caught Buhay partylist Rep. Lito Atienza by surprise as he aired serious reservations about its legality.
"The city council cannot appropriate something that its members will benefit from," said Atienza, a former mayor of the City of Manila.
INQUIRER: Poverty numbers unchanged, survey shows
- An estimated 10.4 million Filipino families described themselves as poor, while around 8.5 million families said they were food-poor over the past three months, according to a recent survey by the Social Weather Stations (SWS). Both numbers are similar to the March figures, considering the survey's error margin of plus or minus three percentage points.
ANC: The independent bloc in the House of Representatives wants to fiscalize the executive's equivalent of the legislature's pork barrel funds. Leyte Rep. Martin Romualdez notes that the legislative pork is but a mere fraction of the over 2 trillion peso budget, while the bigger bulk of lump sum funds in the budget are lodged with the executive. "these are lump sums going without accountability pdaf in the scheme of things, we're talking about 1% of total 2 trillion budget we feel due to circumstances media is putting inordinate focus here when in fact the bigger larger funds are going unexamined, unaudited, people are probably taking advantage of the funds attention natin 90% andito, pero dito naman sa special purpose funds plus unprogrammed   are examined, unreveiwed."
INQUIRER EDITORIAL: Doing business in PH
Given the government's determined stance to lure foreign investors and the big number of foreign firms sending representatives to case the joint, so to speak, one can expect the level of investments to be surging to record levels. That is NOT HAPPENING, however. Despite the rosy figures the Philippines is still LAGGING BEHIND its co-members in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations when it comes to attracting foreign investors.
PEOPLE'S JOURNAL: THE third force or the independent minority bloc of the House of Representatives yesterday urged lawmakers and the public to focus on the hundreds of billions of special purpose funds under the 2014 Php2.268-trillion General Appropriations Bill (GAB), which includes the Php27-billion retirement funds, that have been left unchecked over the years. In a press conference, Leyte Rep. Ferdinand Martin Romualdez, the head of the independent bloc, explained that special purpose funds or lump sum appropriations have been unaudited and there might be serious questions about its proper disbursements.
ask SWS:
is poverty now categorized as
- food poor?
- shelter poor?
- clothes poor?
- health poor?
- education poor?
ANYTHING to please the palace!
Sa totoo lang kumonti na talaga mahihirap at talagang kumonti na rin ang nagugutom kasi marami na ang nangamatay sa gutom!
SWS:
kumonti ang MAHIHIRAP pero dumami ang WALANG MAKAIN!

conclusion:
kailangan DUMAMI ang mahirap para KUMONTI ang nagugutom!!!

PHILSTAR: ATTY. JOSE SISON - GETTING MESSIER
By this time, PNoy must have realized that POINTING FINGERS at others to project a "clean" image may even cause a backlash. Now even his sister Ballsy is being dragged into an alleged $30M payoff in the purchase of MRT trains from the Czech corporation, 'Inekon". Social media has been spreading the information that the deal was allegedly being facilitated by his cousin Jorge A. Lichauco and Ballsy's husband Eldon Cruz. The deal however did not push through when the company did not participate in the bidding because of the change in the terms of reference and not because it was blacklisted. In fairness to all concerned and in the interest of truth, an in depth PROBE MUST be conducted to find out what really happened here.
MLA STANDARD: Congress leaders defy Aquino order Palace bid to control Judiciary's fund questioned
- ADMINISTRATION allies in the House and Senate said Sunday they would defy Pres Benigno Aquino III's bid to seize control of co-equal branches of government by stripping the Judiciary of its fiscal autonomy and by taking away Congress' power of the purse in the 2014 budget.
MLA STANDARD: JOJO ROBLES - What does Aquino know about corruption in the DoTC?
Malacañang appears to have decided to optimize use of the alleged P10B pork barrel scam, involving one pork barrel "integrator" named Janet Lim Napoles and some opposition senators, to DIVERT public attention from the Inekon affair. Although the Napoles affair is by itself a legitimate banner story, its timing and the extent of time and space devoted to it seem to fall very neatly within the administration's pattern of USING ONE SCANDAL to "KILL" and BURY another.
MANILA TIMES: ERWIN TULFO
According to a National Food Authority (NFA) insider, only two groups were given the permit to import rice after winning it through a bidding, and one of them was awarded to one alias "Mr. di bagayan." My source added that another 350 containers of rice is expected to arrive in the country next week from Vietnam and said to contain 182,000 sacks of rice or 9 million metric tons. But, I thought, didn't PNoy say we would import only 300 thousand metric tons this year?????
