Though the CCT implementation has been transferred to the DSWD from the local govt units, Casiple said there is still some wastage of the money, saying the funds FAILED to REACH its beneficiaries.
INQUIRER: Bishops start drive vs mining EO - Manila Aux Bishop Broderick Pabillo, head of the CBCP National Secretariat for Social Action (Nassa), launched the signature campaign to stop the implementation of  the EO during a 3-day plenary assembly of Catholic bishops that will be concluded Monday.

DORONILA: What remains to be done? Remember that the goal is not just to lessen corruption or take it out completely  but also to make reforms systemic. It cannot be that reforms will only be for six years. How long will the public have to ENDURE a do-nothing government until these planned systemic reforms take off? How long will the economy continue to take the BACK SEAT to governance aspirations? I'm afraid that under this administration's INTANGIBLE priorities, and given its LAZY work habits, it will soon be  overtaken by events.
PHILSTAR: Meralco wants new rate hike - Manila, Philippines
-Consumers should brace for slightly higher charges from Manila Electric Co. (Meralco), which plans to recover costs absorbed in its operations last year. The country's largest distributor wants to collect an additional 5.89 centavos per kilowatt-hour (kwh) for 12 months.
STANDARD: JOJO ROBLES
-There are even buses where Villanueva's photos are prominently featured as part of the Tesda ad. We saw Villanueva's Tesda "epal" bus as in the back of a JAM transit when we went to Laguna last week and we wondered how much Tesda spent to put up those ads and how much the agency is paying monthly for those bus ads. There are also TV commercials of Tesda again promoting Villanueva. It would not be surprising if there are radio and print ads that give Villanueva credit for Tesda's accomplishments.
STANDARD: JOJO ROBLES
-Villanueva's self-campaign using Tesda funds includes not only traditional billboards (anyone who passes through NLEX cannot miss Tesda's billboard featuring a huge photograph of Villanueva) but an expensive ELECTRONIC billboard on Edsa as well.
ANC: Family, friends of slain dutch missionary Willem Geertman pressure Aquino gov't for justice. Supporters believe killing was politically-motivated.
INQUIRER: SOLITA MONSOD
On a roll, but not quite Bottom line: The Philippines is among the LEAST ATTRACTIVE of countries to inflows of Foreign Direct Investments, and the FDI it attracts contributes the LEAST to our development. Obviously, the Philippines would be well-advised to review its current investment policy framework, and study the "Investment Policy Framework for Sustainable Development" that is the core of the Unctad Report.

TRIBUNE: It could be a far-out notion, but again, it teases the brain to wonder why, of all people, Trillanes was asked to attend that meeting. But Trillanes would be the more adept at providing Noynoy a better input by way of disclosing how coups against government are started, although his success rate in staging coups is zero. Eventually, however, all will be known in good time. There is no such thing as a secret kept in this country - including moves to give up sovereignty to the Americans.

this president is needlessly putting the country at risk. a sound foreign policy dictates promoting good relations with nations to achieve long lasting peace. on the contrary, he is stupidly allowing himself to be used by the US to justify a renewed military presence in our area. provocative words and actions endanger the lives of peace loving filipinos who, for 2 years straight, have experienced hardships in getting a decent meal on the table. his fixation for war games is no secret and uncle sam is only to happy to wind the key at the back of this do-nothing toy soldier.
