INQUIRER: Vice President Jejomar Binay has branded Commission on Audit Commissioner Heidi Mendoza an "attack dog" of his opponents. Binay noted how Mendoza brought the media when she testified at the Sandiganbayan Wed. on the graft charges filed against his wife, former Makati Mayor Elenita Binay, and other city officials. "She's really geared up. She brought along the media and I think she was able to attain the attention of media. "According to Binay, when she conducted her direct examination, she tried to make it appear that she has presented the evidence."

Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo on Thursday declared that the former president is seeking re-election for the second district of Pampanga next year as planned and her daughters has no plan to run in her place. Arroyo's spokeswoman Elena Baustista-Horn made the clarification after Arroyo's ally House Minority Leader and Quezon Re. Danilo Suarez claimed that Arroyo's daughter Luli may run in her place if her health does not improve.

In the latest release of its Third Quarter Social Weather Survey findings, the SWS said 21% or an estimated 4.3 million households experienced having nothing to eat in he last three months, UP FROM 18.4% in May. This compares to the 47% (est. 9.5 million families) who said they were mahirap or poor in the same survey, down from May's 51%, and the SWS said both results -- its poverty report was published just this Monday -- were not incompatible.
