MLA STANDARD: FR. RANHILLO AQUINO - Why did Ninoy return to the Philippines? Certainly, NOT to honor the commitment he had made to Marcos to return. What seems to make more sense is that he returned to the Philippines hoping to seize momentum against Marcos and take over the leadership of the country. He lost, in other words, in the struggle for political power in the Philippines. That does not make him any less a hero but he places his death in the perspective of a contest for power.
