TRIBUNE: NEW DOE HONCHO NO DIFFERENT FROM HIS PREDECESSOR - PISTON
- Newly installed Energy Sec Jericho Petilla and his predecessor, Rene Almendras, are birds of the same feathers as far as the Piston in concerned. "Basically, there is no difference between Petilla and Almendras. Both are advocates of oil deregulation, privatization and liberalisation. Ironically, President Aquino's late mother, former President Corazon "Cory" Aquino, abolished the DoE. But when the younger Aquino assumed the presidency, the two secretaries of the DoE were both very close to him since Almendras and Petilla were both Ateneo graduates.
