PHILSTAR: SWS: MOST PINOY FAMILIES CONSIDER THEMSELVES POOR
Despite the decrease in self-rated hunger, more Filipinos still consider themselves "mahirap" or poor, the SWS said in its latest survey. The SWS poll, conducted from Dec. 8 to 11 last year, found 54 percent or about 10.9M families, claiming to be poor, up from August's 47 percent or an estimated 9.5M families. The latest figure was also higher than the 52 percent average for equivalent to 23.14M individuals as of 2009.
