MLA STANDARD: Sereno-led court rebuffs Malacañang
Malacañang suffered its first setback in the Sereno-led SC after it reversed the Palace's decision in March last year dismissing a dep. ombudsman for allegedly mishandling policeman in the hostage-taking incident at the Luneta on Aug. 23, 2010, in which eight Hong Kong nationals were killed. The Office of the President erred when it ordered Emilio Gonzales III dismissed for gross neglect of duty and grave misconduct, the high court said in a decision written by Ass Justice Estela Perlas-Bernabe, one of President Benigno Aquino III's appointees in the bench led by CJ Maria Lourdes Sereno.
