PHILSTAR: Consumer CONFIDENCE DOWN - poll Filipino consumers were NOT that optimistic on the economy in the second quarter of the year compared to the first quarter of the year compared to the first quarter because of RISING COSTS of goods and services and UNEMPLOYMENT, according to results of the latest BSP Consumer Expectations Survey. "Concerns over the increase in transport fares in March, the upward adjustments in power rates and hike in tuition could have driven households' lower optimism as these factors put additional strain on family finances, pushing household expenditures up and real income down."
