In 1958 Cory's family got behest loan guaranteed by phil govt to buy Hacienda Luisita on the condition that the lands will be given to farmers after 10 years. They did not distribute the lands after 10 years. Marcos declared land reform, the Aquino-Cojuanco clan refused to give the lands. Marcos filed case but was exiled after edsa coup d etat. Cory became pres and exempted Hacienda from land reform. In 2005 Gloria M. Arroyo filed case to nulify stock option and to distribute land of hacienda luisita. The Supreme Court in oct 2011 ruled that stock option illegal, Hacienda lands must be given to farmers.
