- It's a great irony that the only modern Philippine president who qualifies as a UNITER - despite all her shortcomings - was the first President Aquino. As soon as her predecessor was deposed and she took his place, she immediately set about to reassure people that she was everyone's president, not just this or that faction. Her very first SONA, so soon after the Edsa uprising, mentioned her predecessor's name only three times. How sad indeed that her SON has decided to carve out his own identity by becoming - on this particular issue - everything that SHE was NOT.
