BUSINESSMIRROR: Poor export performance imperils jobs - The country's merchandise exports have not been performing well the past few months and higher unemployment and underemployment loom in the coming months. Former Budget Secretary Benjamin Diokno said that while the contraction in export growth would not make a significant impact on the economic growth in the second quarter and the first half of 2013, it would likely impact on the job market. The country's merchandise exports contracted 4.4 percent to $25.59 billion in the first six months of the year, according to a report released by the National Statistics Office (NSO) on Tuesday.
