MANILA TIMES: Lagman sacked COMMISSION on Elections (Comelec) Commissioner Augusto Lagman was sacked by President Benigno Aquino 3rd from his post so as not to antagonize Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile and get his vote of conviction against Chief Justice Renato Corona.
In a four-page confidential letter to Comelec Chairman Sixto Brillantes dated April 16, 2012, a copy of which was obtained by The Manila Times, Lagman said that MalacaƱang planned to ease him out of the Comelec in order not to have a "tug-of-war" with Enrile who strongly opposed Lagman's appointment to the commission.
