NEWS: "On Monday, a powerful bomb which was heard for kilometers killed nine people and injured 30 others in Cotabato City, as a city administrator aboard a bulletproof vehicle was passing through the area. Meanwhile, last July 26, a blast tore through a crowded bistro in Cagayan de Oro City and killed eight people, including a provincial board member of Misamis Oriental."

MLA STANDARD: UNDER PNOY, 'FREEST MEDIA' REPUTATION VANISHING
"The Philippines has a reputation for having one of environments in Asia, but that reputation disappears bit-by-bit with every killing of a journalist," HRW deputy director for Asia Phelim Kine said in a statement posted in the group's website. "President Aquino needs to realize that this problem won't go away on its own," Kine added, noting that the Aquino administration announced reforms that could result in more effective criminal investigations, but HAS NOT FULLY IMPLEMENTED them.

ABS-CBN: 'PRESIDENT HAS P1-TRILLION PORK BARREL'
Former National Treasurer Leonor Briones and Bayan Muna partylist Rep. Neri Colmenares want the executive department to explain the lump sum items  in the national budget which they believe are the President's version of lawmakers' pork barrel funds. Briones, who has been studying national budget through the years, estimates the lump sums under the President's discretion to amount to around P1 trillion. Briones said the power of the President to realign funds in the budget makes the whole national budget his "pork". By her reckoning, only half of the national budget is detailed.

MANILA TIMES: ARROYOS WANT ECONOMIC ESPIONAGE CRIMINALIZED
Mother and son lawmakers Gloria and Diosdado Ignacio "Dato" Arroyo proposed the criminalizing of economic espionage in the House of Representatives. The Arroyos made the proposal under their House Bill 1377 or Economic Espionage and Protection of Proprietary Information Act of 2013 which aims to protect and ensure the development of proprietary economic information as an integral part of the nation's commerce and economic development.

PRES BS AQUINO claimed that the 10 BILLION-PESO SCAM is NOTHING compared to the P728-MILLION fertilizer fund scam during the time of former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo. Apparently, the Philippine President is NOT GOOD WITH HIS NUMBERS either. He thinks that "BILLION" is lower than "MILLION".

INQUIRER: ARREST OF AQUINO ALLIES FOR PORK SCAM STOPPED
The Sandiganbayan HAS SUSPENDED the implementation of the arrest warrant against former Cebu Rep. Clavel Asas-Martinez, former Bogo Mayor Celestino Matinez III, Ma. Ceilo Martinez and for others who are facing malversation and graft charges for the misuse of her pork barrel. Interestingly, the anti-graft court ordered on July 31 the arrest of Lanao del Norte Rep. Abdullah Dimaporo in connection with another malversation case. Dimaporo is NOT A POLITICAL ALLY of Aquino.

President Aquino's administration, which has bannered TRANSPARENCY AS AN OBSESSIVE CREED, is not on the carpet for this ASTRONOMICAL LEAKAGE OF PUBLIC FUNDS. Mr. Aquino has given the DOJ the green light to get to the bottom of the scandal, which, in terms of the STAGGERING SUM involved, OVERSHADOWS the fertilizer fund scandal during Gloria M-Arroyo's administration. In that scandal, the then Agriculture Usec Jocelyn Bolante was accused of diverting P728 million in fertilizer funds to the 2004 reelection campaign of Arroyo.

TRIBUNE: NOY'S SPRATLYS MOVES 'POLICY OF PROVOCATION' - EX SOLGEN
Former Solicitor General Estelito Mendoza has cautioned Malacañang against proceeding with its "policy of provocation" with China in connection with the ongoing crisis over portions of the South China Sea. Mendoza, a key player in the legal team of the late strongman Ferdinand Marcos who met with Chinese leaders Deng Xiaoping in the 1970s during the height of the cold war, underscored that "then as now the United States will be unable to defend our interests."

GETREALPOST: Since BS Aquino had VERY LITTLE EXPERIENCE managing people before he became the head of state, he might not know the concept of command responsibility. Although, when he was being interviewed by CNN for their program Eye on the Philippines in 2012, Anna Coren asked him why he seemed to be SINGLING OUT former President Gloria Arroyo in his fight against corruption. His response was that as the Chief Executive back then, GMA SHOULD HAVE DONE SOMETHING about the transgressions during her term. Like I said before, if we are to follow his logic on this, then HE SHOULD DO SOMETHING about the transgressions committed by public servants DURING HIS TERM TOO.
