His inquisitorial tendencies is typical of his old ways as a martial law enforcer against activists. From dramatic and scripted senate investigation to filing of the ombudsman, nothing else is new. It is clear from documents in CAAP that from the start Lionair is the owner and exclusive distributor of the helicopters in the country and it was maptra, the marketing agent which sold the helicopters to the pnp. Yet they gave credence to the bare testimony of an individual over the overwhelming documentary evidence showing i am not the owner.

JOURNAL: The House Minority group head expressed hopes that the court will also allow former Pres now Pamp. Rep. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo to post bail charges of electoral sabotage. Minority Leader Danilo Suarez made this statement following  the court decision allowing former Chairman Ben Abalos to post bail on the same case. "Let the court decide on the petition for bail of the former president," Suarez told reporters in a weekly press briefing. "There are 2 issues. let the govt doctors representing the administration verify how serious is the health of the former president," According to Suarez, they believe that the case against Rep. Arroyo is weaker compared to Abalos."

STANDARD: Binay leads PNoy in approval ratings - Pres Benigno Aquino III slid to third place, behind VP jejomar Binay and Sen. Juan Ponce Enrile, in Pulse Asia's recent survey of the approval ratings of public officials. The survey was conducted on May 20 to 26, and it showed Mr. Aquino getting a 67 percent approval rating. Ten percent disapproval of him while 23 percent were undecided Mr. Aquino received a 70 percent approval rating and a nine percent disapproval rating in Pulse Asia's Feb 26 o March 9 survey.

INQUIRER: PULSE ASIA Mr. Aquino scored an approval rating of 67 percent (from 70 percent in March) while Binay got 81 percent (from 84 percent). In metro manila, the President's approval rating dipped 11 points to 57 percent and the number of those undecided on his performance rose by 10 points to 31 percent.  In terms of trust ratings, Binay is still the most trusted among top national officials. He got an overall trust rating of 78 percent(from 80 percent in March). Mr. Aquino earned a trust rating of 65 percent (from  69 percent) while Enrile scored 62 percent (from 63 percent)

TEDITORIAL: Golden Opportunity - "But if the court must rule now, it can stop short of overturning the Senate conviction, not because of Senate was right (it was wrong) but because the CJ accepted the verdict, and that on slim & personal ground, declare the petitions moot. What will this achieve? It will show the hypocrisy of justices who conspired for an easy impeachment but who must fear that same ease will be used against the sitting president or against the justices by the next administration. It is in one's interest for the court to declared the petitions moot and the senate conviction right. But it is in the interest of democracy for the court to discuss the demerits of the last impeachment & lay down the template of a proper impeachment and trial leading to a rightful conviction. this is a golden opportunity for the justices to show off their learning ---  or not.
